De bronnen van verontreiniging zijn geinventariseerd. Er blijkt vooral sprake te zijn van verontreiniging door diffuse bronnen. De gevolgen van lozingen uit puntbronnen blijken vooral plaatselijk te zijn. De mogelijke consequenties voor de volksgezondheid worden geschat. De problematiek van de berging van met PCDD en PCDF verontreinigd slib wordt omschreven.
