Canada). <i>P. littoralis</i> is absent on the host in the upper part of the littoral. <i>P. lanosa</i> has a similar abundance in the upper- and mid-littoral. <i>P. littoralis</i> is more abundant in the lower littoral and outgrows <i>P. lanosa . P. lanosa</i> is more abundant at the exposed site. <i>P. littoralis</i> grows more profusely on the terminal parts of <i>A. nodosum</i>, while the abundance of <i>P. lanosa</i> is similar on the median and terminal parts of its host.
