Supervening phenomena like chemical pollution are difficult to control even with substantial buffers. Biotic pollution -that is, invasion by nonindigenous species- is one such phenomenon that has received less attention in marine reserve design and management than in the terrestrial and freshwater realms. This difference is probably less a function of real differences in degree and nature of invasion and damage among these habitats than a reflection of less knowledge about the organization of marine communities and the origins of their component species than is usually available for their terrestrial and freshwater counterparts.","AbstractOtherLang":null,"BibLvlCode":"AS","StandardTitle":"No reserve is an island: marine reserves and nonindigenous species","OrigTitleLangCode":"en","OrigTitleLangCodeExtended":"eng","OrigTitleLangID":15,"DateLastModified":{"date":"2024-12-10 01:33:17.368041","timezone_type":1,"timezone":"+01:00"},"UserAccessRight":null,"UserAccID":null,"AuthorKeywords":null,"OtherDescriptors":null,"Notes":null,"AnaPub":2000,"MonPub":null,"DateUpdate":"2021-02-25","DateCreate":"2001-03-27","SecASFANote":null,"ConfID":null,"PeerRev":1,"VlizCoreFlag":1,"WoScode":"WOS:000088894300005","VABBcode":null,"OpenAcc":0},"refs":null,"anarec":{"AnaID":7107,"PubliDate":2000,"Pagination":"567-580","XtraPublOfAnaID":null,"ISBN":null,"Volume":"66","Issue":"3","BRefMon":null,"BRefMonRR":null,"BRefXtra":null,"BRefXtraRR":null,"SerBRefID":42490,"SerRR":"Bulletin of Marine Science.
