The latter character is reminiscent of primitive Misophrioida and Cyclopoida, but represents a unique plesiomorphy within the Poecilostomatoida. The Paralubbockiidae Boxshall and Huys is the only other poecilostomatoid family that has retained vestiges of ventral fifth legs.
