A total of 115 species is recognized from the area. Of these six species and one genus are described as new to science, namely <i>Microdeutopus thumbellinus</i> n. sp., <i>Unciolella spinosa</i> n. sp., <i>Ceradocus natalensis</i> n. sp., <i>Urothoe coxalis</i> n. sp., <i>Urothoe tumorosa</i>, n. sp., and <i>Chaka leoni</i> n. gen., n, sp., (Phtisicidae). In addition two existing species, <i>Gammaropsis imminens</i> K. H. Barnard and <i>Gammaropsis semidentatus</i> K. H. Barnard are synonymized with <i>Gammaropsis atlantica</i> Stebbing and <i>Gammaropsis holmesi</i> Stebbing respectively.
