The process of catching and storing fish is modelled with a stochastic catch input. For a given catch, represented by the parameters size and inter-arrival time of probability distribution functions, a particular minimum freezing rate is necessary to avoid queueing of fish in the vessel. The advantages of a stochastic model over a deterministic model are discussed. Queueing phenomena are better described by a stochastic model.
