From vegetation mapping it was concluded that the distribution is associated to a temporal and spatial gradient of land-use. In the area of ongoing land-use scrub is almost absent. Sea buckthorn, acting as a pioneer in sand drifts and abandoned fields, dominates the area where the traditional land-use was terminated eighty years ago. At a long distance from the village scrub developed for more than a century without substantial influence of human activities. Here the thickets of Common privet, replacing the degraded scrub of Sea buckthorn and Creeping willow, indicate regressive succession.
