As the evaluation of more than 1,500 photos revealed, the daggertooth pike-conger captured and swallowed the shark within the trap. After heaving it, the shark was discovered as stomach content. Both species, <i>Iago omanensis</i> and <i>Muraenesox cinereux</i>, inhabit the Red Sea in significantly deeper zones than in the Indian Ocean. Due to the high temperatures in the deep water of the Red Sea, no ecological barrier exists for these fishes which are able to reach bathyal zones. These findings confirm the hypothesis that the deep water fishes of the Red Sea do not belong to the true deep sea ichthyofauna but to the ecological group of eurybathic fishes which are able to penetrate the bathyal region from shallower zones.","AbstractOtherLang":null,"BibLvlCode":"AS","StandardTitle":"Tiefenwasser- und Tiefseefische aus dem Roten Meer.
