Sobek-Rural, developed by WL|DELFT HYDRAULICS, is an integrated numerical hydraulic modelling package to simulate hydrodynamics of one-dimensional river/channel network and two-dimensional overland flow.<br><br>The area of the mine sagging, on the Belgian border, of the river Meuse is protected by a system of dikes and pumps. This system must guard the area from flooding and seeping groundwater. As a result of the mining activities in the past the surface sagged up to 7 m. The breaching of a dike during a storm will mainly cause disastrous consequences for the communities of Leut and Meeswijk.
