Using this, the anoxic conditions of the black shale in the Cenomanian - Turonian boundary were confirmed for the Yezo Supergroup, Hokkaido, Japan which was a sequence deposited in the outer shelf to the upper shelf-slope basin of a fore-arc basin. The phyletic speciation from the Cenomanian Desmoceras (Pseudouhligella) japonicum to Turonian Tragodesmoceroides subcostatus arose at the C/T boundary in the northwestern Pacific. It is reasonably explained in relation to the oceanic anoxic conditons that most D. (P.) japonicum populations died out at the end of the Cenomanian and T. subcostatus phyletically arose from a small population of the former which had successfully taken refuge in shallower waters. The distribution of the descendant species was limited to shallower waters than the ancestral species.","AbstractOtherLang":null,"BibLvlCode":"AMS","StandardTitle":"Phyletic evolution of desmoceratine ammonoids through the Cenomanian-Turonian oceanic anoxic event","OrigTitleLangCode":"en","OrigTitleLangCodeExtended":"eng","OrigTitleLangID":15,"DateLastModified":{"date":"2025-07-08 01:30:37.439852","timezone_type":1,"timezone":"+02:00"},"UserAccessRight":null,"UserAccID":null,"AuthorKeywords":null,"OtherDescriptors":null,"Notes":null,"AnaPub":1993,"MonPub":null,"DateUpdate":"2001-05-10","DateCreate":"2001-05-10","SecASFANote":null,"ConfID":null,"PeerRev":0,"VlizCoreFlag":1,"WoScode":null,"VABBcode":null,"OpenAcc":0},"refs":null,"anarec":{"AnaID":8793,"PubliDate":1993,"Pagination":"267-283","XtraPublOfAnaID":null,"ISBN":"0-19-857765-6","Volume":"47","Issue":null,"BRefMon":8735,"BRefMonRR":"House, M.R.
