They are found in all conceivable types of aquatic environment and are extremely diverse behaviourally. This diversity is in large part due to the group's striking behavioural plasticity and makes them ideal organisms on which to test mechanistic and functional models of behaviour. Considerable progress has been made over the past decade in understanding how behaviour, ecology, and genetics interact to determine individual survival and reproductive success in fishes, and thus the evolution of their behaviour. Behavioural ecology of teleost fishes reviews the recent advances in knowledge of behavioural strategies and tactics of habitat selection and space use, foraging, predator avoidance and evasion, and reproduction. It proposes new directions and approaches for future research. It also considers the impact of individual behaviour on population and community ecology. The text will benefit all those with a general interest in behavioural ecology, especially students, teachers, and researchers interested in the behaviour and ecology of fishes. It will also be a valuable reference source for biologists, aquaculturalists, and conservationists.","AbstractOtherLang":null,"BibLvlCode":"M","StandardTitle":"Behavioural ecology of teleost fishes","OrigTitleLangCode":"en","OrigTitleLangCodeExtended":"eng","OrigTitleLangID":15,"DateLastModified":{"date":"2024-12-10 01:33:01.897972","timezone_type":1,"timezone":"+01:00"},"UserAccessRight":null,"UserAccID":null,"AuthorKeywords":null,"OtherDescriptors":null,"Notes":null,"AnaPub":null,"MonPub":1997,"DateUpdate":"2023-05-17","DateCreate":"2001-05-15","SecASFANote":null,"ConfID":null,"PeerRev":0,"VlizCoreFlag":1,"WoScode":null,"VABBcode":null,"OpenAcc":0},"refs":null,"anarec":null,"monrec":{"MonID":9090,"ISBN":"0-19-850503-5","PubliDate":1997,"IssueDate":null,"Volume":null,"Issue":null,"Pagination":"384","Place":"Oxford","Edition":null,"BRefXtra":null,"BRefXtraRR":null,"SerID":null,"SerRR":null,"Ser2BRefID":null,"Ser2RR":null,"StandardTitleSer":null,"ISSN":null,"AbbrevSer":null,"Degree":null,"ThesisID":null,"InsID":null,"Acronym":null,"FullStandardName":null,"ToPubliDate":null,"SerNotes":null,"eISBN":null,"Pages":384},"serrec":null,"relations":null,"relationsRev":null,"addrec":null,"othpubs":null,"ownerships":null,"authors":[{"AutName":"Godin","Firstname":"Jean-Guy","Initials":"J.-G.J.","Affiliation":null,"Discriminator":null,"CorporateFlag":0,"BEntID":9090,"AutID":13100,"OrderNr":1,"DegrID":null,"EditorFlag":1,"CorrespFlag":0,"IllustratorFlag":0,"ReviserFlag":0,"TranslatorFlag":0,"InsAcronym":null,"InsFSN":null,"ORCID":null,"PersID":null,"InsID":null}],"mapdetails":null,"datasets":null,"monographs":null,"monparts":[{"BRefID":9091,"StandardTitle":"Behavioural ecology of fishes: adaptations for survival and reproduction","AuthorsString":"Godin, J.-G.J.","BibLvlCode":"AM"},{"BRefID":9092,"StandardTitle":"Fish migration: an evolutionary perspective","AuthorsString":"Dodson, J.J.","BibLvlCode":"AM"},{"BRefID":9095,"StandardTitle":"Habitat selection: patterns of spatial distribution from behavioural decisions","AuthorsString":"Kramer, D.L.;
