Detailed descriptions of the tooth morphology, and rostral spine morphology for Pristiophoriformes are given, as well as SEM-photographs. The tooth morphology of the genera concerned is compared in order to elucidate the interrelationships within these shark orders also from an odontological point of view. The dental histology for the orectolobiform genera is commented on, and their dental vascular types are re-examined in order to understand the various root forms. The results are summarized in a differential diagnosis for all orectolobiform genera and families. Dental morphology, histology and vascularization results allow to provide an odontological key to all supraspecific taxa of these orders and to suggest a number of systematical adjustments.
