The only species known in the genus <i>Plakortis</i> from the East Pacific Ocean is <i>Plakortis galapagensis</i> Desqueyroux-Faúndez & van Soest, 1997, which differs from <i>Plakortis albicans</i> sp. nov. mainly by having diods in two distinct size classes.
