The laboratory for Environmental Toxicology and Aquatic Ecology (GhEnToxLab) aims to advance the understanding of environmental and ecotoxicological problems and processes across all levels of biological organisation (from genomes and cells to populations and ecosystems). Through training and education of environmental scientists at both Master, PhD and postdoc level along this general research line and through open communication of research results to industry and policy-makers, the group ultimately aims to improve the ecological relevance of environmental risk assessment of chemicals and other natural and anthropogenic stressors and to support science-based environmental quality management and policy. The marine research within this group is supported by Prof. Colin Janssen.

Het laboratorium voor Milieutoxicologie en Aquatische Ecologie (GhEnToxLab) heeft als doel het begrip van milieuproblemen en ecotoxicologische processen op alle biologische organisatieniveaus te bevorderen, van genomen en cellen tot populaties en ecosystemen. Door training en opleiding van milieudeskundigen op zowel master-, PhD- als postdoc-niveau in deze algemene onderzoekslijn, en door het openbaar maken van onderzoeksresultaten aan de industrie en beleidsmakers, streeft de groep uiteindelijk naar het verbeteren van de ecologische relevantie van de milieurisicobeoordeling van chemicaliën en andere natuurlijke en door de mens veroorzaakte stressfactoren, en om wetenschapsgebaseerd beheer van milieu en beleid te ondersteunen. Het mariene onderzoek binnen deze groep wordt ondersteund door Prof. Colin Janssen.
