First release of MarineInfo.org

Welcome to marineinfo.org!

Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) announces the launch of MarineInfo.org, a website that aims to transform the way marine data is submitted and explored. This platform is set to empower scientists, policymakers, and researchers as a user-friendly resource for accessing valuable data about our oceans.

MarineInfo.org is the result of software engineering and dedication from the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), a marine research and data management pioneer. With a commitment to advancing our understanding of the marine environment, VLIZ has developed MarineInfo.org as a tool for enhancing marine data exploration.

At its core, MarineInfo.org serves as a centralized hub for researchers, organizations, and individuals to submit, access, and explore a vast array of marine data. This platform offers a range of features and functionalities, making it an important resource for marine scientists and researchers alike.

MarineInfo.org serves as a catalyst for marine research, conservation, and sustainable management efforts. By facilitating the sharing of valuable data, the platform empowers scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders to make informed decisions, drive innovation, and address pressing challenges facing our oceans.

About Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ):

The mission of the Flemish Institute for the Sea (VLIZ) is clear: to strengthen science-based knowledge about our coasts, seas, and the ocean and share it as widely as possible. That knowledge matters to everyone. The seas affect our lives. And we humans have an impact on the ocean, marine life, and coasts. Just think about climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. Marine research can help in detecting changes, analysing problems, and proposing solutions. To this end, the VLIZ uses new technologies, such as robotics, and focuses on innovation and valorisation. Research areas include the ocean and seas, coasts and tidal systems as well as all areas where Flemish marine scientists are or were active. Find more information at: https://www.vliz.be/en

VLIZ conducts this research in an unfettered, neutral, and open manner.
