Description The long aboral primary spines have asymmetric discs expanding at the inner side of the lower shaft towards the apical system. The distal ends of the spines are modified into large, shining discs shielding the whole upper side of the test. It is likely that they serve for sheltering the juveniles. Diameter of test approximately 23 mm, height 15 mm, longest spine 35 mm. Great Barrier Islands, NE of Auckland, New Zealand. Author Fell, H.
