Abstract
Single and multiple wave generation of tsunami-like solitary waves are implemented in the DualSPHysics model. The numerical results are compared with those from two different experimental campaigns that investigated the run-up of solitary waves on a gentle beach and the forces exerted on harbour protections, respectively. The results demonstrate the capability of DualSPHysics to represent the main hydrodynamic properties of a solitary wave during it interacts with the shoreline or a coastal structure. Thanks to this implementation, the applicability of DualSPHysics to coastal engineering is enhanced; being the model already capable of generating monochromatic waves and random sea states.
