The dataset contains 60,445 records representing 390 separate species. The data were assembled by the former Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS) which is now a part of the Australian Department of Agriculture. Additional summary information including catch weights and gross value product per species per square per year is available via the online application "Atlas of Australian Marine Fishing and Coastal Communities" which is accessible from the Australian DAFF site at http://data.daff.gov.au/mapserv/fishcoast/.
