Abstract
Data on summer-fall distribution and biology of cephalopods from the Russian EEZ of the Japan Sea are presented. A total 18 species from 7 families were found: Sepiidae(2), Sepiolidae (2), Loliginidae (2), Enoploteuthidae (2), Ommastrephidae (3), Gonatidae (5), Octopodidae (2). The following 8 species occur in the Russian EEZ whole year round: Cuttlefishes Sepiola birostrata and Rossia pacifica; squids Watasenia scintillans, Berryteuthis magister, Gonatopsis japonicus, Gonatopsis octopedatus; octopuses Octopus dofleini and Octopus conispadiceus. Two species of squids Todarodes pacificus and Enoploteuthis chuni permanently occurred in summer-fall season, while the other 8 species were observed sporadically: cuttlefishes Sepiella japonica and Sepia madokai, squids Sepioteuthis lessoniana, Heterololigo bleekeri, Ommastrephes bartrami, Eucleoteuthis luminosa, Gonatopsis borealis, Gonatus madokai.
