| Abstract |
The flushing rates of water transport in the east Indonesian deep-sea basins is reconsidered using new data on oxygen content, new current measurements in the Strait of Lifamatola and "age" determinations of water masses by 14C decay. It was concluded that rates were considerably faster than assumed by the first author on the basis of Snellius-I data (1929-1930). Depending on location, "ages" of 10 to 140 years were found, the higher ages in the more isolated parts of the system. |
