| Abstract |
After the finding of the extremely rare Mantouan edition of «Dioscoride»'s speeches on medical subjects (1549), put together by Pietro Andrea Mattioli, the Authors believe that, at least for what concerns shells specifically, the book's illustrations are among the most ancient to have been printed. The Authors have made a bibliographical research on the subject, summed «Dioscoride»'s and Mattioli's texts up with a short note and attempted to identify the illustrated Mollusca. |
