Abstract
Authorship of the name Turbinella zealandica is credited to Kobelt in Küster & Kobelt (1876) and a lectotype for the taxon designated from the type material. Following Tapparone-Canefri (1879) the original locality data are rejected and the type locality emended to Mauritius. Additional material with accurate locality data is now available from the Mascarene Islands. Tapparone-Canefri's replacement name, Peristernia kobeltiana, is an unjustified substitution.
