Abstract
Rich thanatocenoses of planktonic an41 benthonic foraminifers are listed from the Pouzdrany Formation. The deep sublittoral to upper bathyal sediments of the formation were deposited on the Paleogene shelf along the southeastern margins of the Bohemian Massif. The sedimentary suite is now incorporated in the nappe structure of the Carpathian Flysch Belt. The SEM study of Escornebovina trochiformis revealed the presence of umbilical slits and several little openings on the last intercameral suture. These morphological features indicate a possibility that the genus Escornebovina belongs to the family Rotaliidae. On the spiral suture of some specimens of Globigerina ? cf. danvillensis a little supplementary aperture was ascertained. One new species - Islandiella crenulata - has been described.
