| Abstract |
A survey is given of taxonomy, life-history and geography of Bostrychia scorpioides (Huds.) Mont. based on study of living specimens, culture experiments, study of herbarium material and literature. This species includes B. harveyi Montagne, B. australasica Sonder, B. distans Harvey and B. vulgaris Haufe, but not B. montagnei, which is a separate species. Fragmentation is the common method of propagation of B. scorpioodes, which has been found in boreal areas both in the northern and in the southern hemisphere. |
