| Abstract |
A new genus and species of liparid fish Palmoliparis beckeri gen. et sp. n. is described based on two specimens caught off the northern Kurile Islands at a depth of 256-460m. The new species possesses astructure unique for liparid fish of a lower lobe on the pectoral fin, forming an elongated peduncle with palmate distal widening. The position of the new genus in the system of the family, and current problems of phylogeny of liparid fish are discussed. |
