| Abstract |
The systematic investigation of the calcareous algae from the LowerPermian Trogkofel limestone, Goggau limestone, Treßdorf limestone andthe Tarvis breccia results in the recognition of an algal flora consisting of46 species: phylloid algae, dasyclads ( with n. sp. ),"Epimastopora" ancestral coralline algae, solenoporaceans, gymnocodiaceans, ungdarellaceans, rhodophyceans incertae sedis, and cyanophyceans (with Girvanella subparallela n. sp. and Ortonella goggauensis n. sp.). Some of the species characterize different environments of a shelf-lagoon and of a shelf-edge area with algal mud mounds similar in its ecologic development to the Permian Reef Complex of New Mexico and Texas. |
