Abstract
The Iliad project represents a groundbreaking initiative in developing comprehensive thematic and localised Digital Twins of the Ocean (DTOs). Iliad establishes a comprehensive framework for generating interoperable, data-rich, and economically viable ocean digital twins, enhancing the Blue Economy. Iliad's approach revolutionises oceanic process monitoring, understanding, and prediction. Funded with approximately a-17 million through the EU Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, GA no 101037643, its contributions extend beyond scientific advancements, significantly impacting the EU Green Deal, Digital Strategy, and UN Ocean Decade outcomes
