| Abstract |
Three new genera and one new species of cyclidan crustacean from the Carboniferous (Upper Pennsylvanian, Kasimovian) of North America increase the known diversity and disparity of the group. Ohioclus columbianensisnew genus and species is the first report of Cyclida from Ohio, USA. Taxa originally described by Rogers (1902) from Missouri and Kansas, USA are reevaluated. A lectotype is herein designated for Missouriclus communisnew genus and new combination and modern images are provided for Pavelskine packardinew genus and new combination. Renewed interest in this unusual arthropod group has brought new specimens to light, increasing the known generic diversity for the group. Cyclida experienced peaks of diversity in the Carboniferous and Triassic, the former of which is reinforced by the newly recognized taxa. |
