Abstract
In this article the canal from Ghent to Terneuzen is mainly considerered - from a Flemish point of view - as a waterway for sea-going vessels as well as for inland navigation vessels.A short historical survey is followed by a description of the international status of the canal and of its infrastructure. The items are water supply and water drainage problems, as well as the importance of waterway traffic. A glance into the future: new water related grounds have to be created. The dock-complexto be built will be called "Kluizendokcomplex". Several authorities are engaged in the management of the canal. Deliberations between all the parties involved are to be held. Attention is paid to this in fine.
