Abstract
This final report on the STD-3 project "Interlinkages between Eastern-African coastal ecosystems" marks the end of a joint enterprising involving researchers from four European and three African countries. Some two and a half years ago, teams of researchers of these countries together set out to elucidate the functional interdependence of mangroves, seagrass beds and coral reefs, with the ultimate goal to contribute to the scientific basis that is necessary for the formulation of sound management and exploitation policies concerning the coastal fringe ecosystems in Eastern-Africa.
