Abstract
A temporary excavation in an abandoned sand pit in Quoniam, Haravilliers (Val d'Oise), made possible the examination of the layers of the basal Marinesian (upper Bartonian), including the level commonly called the horizon of Mortefontaine. Although previously studied by Morellet & Morellet (1922), our excavations made it possible to specify the stratigraphy and paleontological content. Six species of gastropods, new for the Mortefontaine horizon, have been identified. Otoliths of bony fish, attributed to four different species, are reported, which is a first for this level.
