Abstract
This text presents the findings and other aspects about the fieldwork of biologist Josephine Schouteden-Wery on the coast of Belgium. The information is taken from an article published in 1911 in Recueil de L'Institut Botanique Leo Errera, a periodical of the University of Brussels. Schouteden-Wery replied to the Royal Society for Medical and Natural Sciences of Brussels (Societe Royale des Sciences Medicales et Naturelles de Bruxelles) about the geological, climatic, hydrological and other factors that regulate the geographical distribution of species. She took part in study trips to the Congo, a Belgian colony in Africa, and was a leading member of the Union of Colonial Women (L'Union des Femmes Coloniales).
