Abstract
    A new species of Pleurerythrops, a mysid genus formerly known only from the Indo-Pacific region, is reported from the Caribbean Sea. Pleurerythrops americana was collected at one metre depth in a mangrove of a semiclosed lagoon on the northwestern coast of Venezuela.
