Abstract
Length-weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for 15 deep-water chondrichthyan species from the slopes of the Canary Islands. The following species were opportunistically sampled during several fisheries research projects: Centrophorus granulosus, Centrophorus squamosus, Deania calceus, Deania hystricosa, Deania profundorum, Etmopterus pusillus, Etmopterus princeps, Centroscymnus coelolepis, Centroscymnus crepidater, Centroscymnus owstonii, Scymnodon ringens, Zameus squamulosus, Chimaera monstrosa, Hydrolagus mirabilis, and Rhinochimaera atlantica. Equations with a high accompanying coefficient of correlation provided the LWRs. The data obtained improve basic knowledge required for further conservation and ecosystem modelling.
