Abstract
The foraminifera included in this family have been scattered in theearlier classifications due to the fact that in their later stages theysuperficially resemble other uniserial or similar forms. The early development and known geologic history shows that the Valvulinidae form arather compact group. Microspheric and megalospheric forms needto be studied wherever possible, and as in all other groups good series ofspecimens are essential to determine specific limits. A number of otherspecies are undescribed due to lack of sufficient material for adequatedescription.
