Abstract
Cryopreservation plays a pivotal role in aquaculture, selective breeding, and the genetic conservation of aquatic animals. However, progress in cryopreserving the sperm of European sea bass is hindered by its fragility. The sperm are characterized by brief motility and sensitivity to handling and storage conditions. This chapter reviews recent advances in the European sea bass sperm cryopreservation, emphasizing the methodologies, results, and limitations of existing techniques in the context of broader sperm management strategies.
