| Abstract |
The regeneration phenoma of Ctenophora from the Barents Sea were investigated. The adult animals (Beroe cucumis, Bolinopsis infundibulum and Mertensia ovum) and the larvae (Beroe cucumis, Bolinopsis infundibulum) were used in the experiments. The Ctenophora of all 3 spp completely regenerate the removed parts of comb rows, parts of the gastrovascular system, the aboral organ and tentacles (Mertensia). The capacity for regeneration of the larvae was also observed. There are some differences in the pattern and the rate of the regeneration processes in the representatives of the different spp. The histological analysis of the regeneration processes in the region of the removed comb row and the meridional canal of Beroe cucumis demonstrate the complete restoration of the whole system of the cell elements. A certain sequence of the histogenetical processes in the regeneration of these structure was described. The ectodermal origin of the germ cells was supposed. |
