Abstract
The German-Israeli cooperative programme on the "Optimisation of Intensive Aquaculture Systems" started in 1977. In this first phase 10 specific projects had been implemented. After two years of experience in the programme, this Status Seminar was held to discuss the progress made so far within the particular projects and to identify areas of mutual interest in aquaculture research. The contributions to the Seminar focussed on four major areas corresponding to the subjects of the cooperative programme: 1. Fish nutrition, diseases, growth and environmental conditions 2. Production of live food for fish farming 3. Breeding and controlled reproduction of aquaculture species 4. Trends in aquaculture research. All papers are individually abstracted in this issue of ASFA.
