Objectives:  (1) The study of the relative importance of primary production, bacterial bacterial production and detritus in the planctonic food web.  (2) The study of important biotic interactions in the micro- and meiobenthic food web.  (3) The study of the feeding ecology of higher trophic levels (fish, macrocrustacea and avifauna) and their impact on lower trophic levels.\r\n\r\nThe former Institute for Nature Conservation was a partner in this project","AbstractOtherLang":"Het project omvat een vergelijkend onderzoek van een aantal belangrijke biotische interacties in het plankton en het benthos van de Zeeschelde, de Westerschelde en de kustzones binnen de invloedsfeer van het estuarium. Centraal in dit onderzoek staan de planktonische en benthische organismen. De studielocaliteiten omvatten de volledige saliniteitsgradiënt van zoetwatergetijdengebieden naar mariene kuststations en worden alle gekenmerkt door een hoge turbiditeit.
