Abstract | The Eastern Scheldt is a tidal basin in the southwestern part of The Netherlands (Figure 1). In recent years the Eastern Scheldt has been subject to changes in the hydraulic conditions due to the building of a storm surge barrier in the western part, and two dams in the eastern and north-eastern part of the basin. By closing the Philipsdam in April 1987, and so creating a new fresh water lake, the Eastern Scheldt obtained its new shape. |
