Abstract | The ecophysiology of Antarctic marine ectotherms is an area of active research. This review of recent progress covers metabolism, mitochondrial function, aerobic scope, growth and development. Energetics is shown to be a central feature of adaptation to temperature, with mitochondrial function and tissue oxygen supply important in setting limits to organismal size and performance. |
