Abstract
End 2003 a complete monitoring installation was deployed on the Pier of Blankenberge, allowing measuringincident waves and the corresponding wave load on the concrete structure. Wave loads on the structure were measured with pressure sensors at 2 kHz. in order to catch the short, sharp pressure peaks. The highest wave impacts measured up till now are ~ 5 bar. An intelligent system for off-line processing of the raw data was developed to reduce the data storage volume. This paper gives a detailed description of the complete monitoring installation and the data acquisition system.
