Abstract | When a ship moves in close proximity of a bank or other ships, lateral force and yaw moment (interaction forces) are induced due to influence of asymmetrical flow around the ship. In this paper, calculated results of the interaction forces by a 3D panel method with assumption of rigid free-surface are introduced for actual ships such as ferry, container ship, tanker and so on. Through the comparison of the calculated results with the model test results, the robustness of the 3D panel method is investigated. As a result, it was found that the 3D panel method can capture the qualitative tendency of the interaction forces with a reasonable accuracy. |
