Abstract | The pressure of societal claims on the ecological potentials of the Scheldt basin has risen far beyond the limits of sustainability. In order to reach the objective of sustainable development within a sound river basin, well-considered choices have to be made at the level of societal system. At the same time, a clear notion of the potentials, objectives and priorities at the level of river system and water system has to be formed. |
