Abstract
The optimal salinity for the growth of Penaeus monodon is 20°/oo but was succesfully grown at 38°/oo. The survival rate was over 80% and the prawns reached an average of 35g in 150 days, to yield over 800g.m-2. The food conversion was 1:3. The prawns were exceptionally firm and sweet and commanded above average prices.
