Abstract
The foraging tactics and prey-selection patterns of omnivorous and carnivorous calanoid copepods arc reviewed. Calanoid foraging tactics arc envisioned as falling along several closely coupled continua reflecting swimming behavior, feeding behavior, and dietary habit. The consequences of these foraging tactics on prey-selection patterns are explored in the context of a graphical model. It is hypothesized that the prey-selection patterns of calanoid copepods arc determined, to a large extent, by calanoid foraging tactics and the size relationships of predator and prey.
