Abstract
The planktonic foraminifer Globigerina pachyderma (EHRENBERG, 1861) occurs in the upper Miocene and Plio-Pleistocene deposits of the Antwerpen area. The authors state a change in the dominantly coiling direction of this foraminifer, accompanied with other morphological variations. Thestratigraphical level of this change coincides with the admitted Mio-Pliocene boundary in this area. According to several authors, it may be attributed to climatological oscillations.
