Abstract | Site fidelity, or faithfulness, of migratory shorebirds is one of the fascinating facts in animal long distance travel. Aves migrants can return to the same place each year (Buchanan et al. 2012). Understanding where individuals refuelling each year in China coast has high conservation value. Despite the plasticity of individuals, rapid costal development in China reduces mudflats area and available food resources for shorebirds (Piersma et al 2016). This project analysed ring data of endangered Great Knot Calidris tenuirostris and near threatened Bar-tailed Godwits Limosa lapponica to understand the movement and site fidelity of migratory shorebirds in the changing coastal environment. |
