Abstract
Seven possible sitings of a nuclear power station on the Belgian coast, or offshore, were postulated and compared in 1975 in a technology assessment approach. In addition, a more detailed ecological case-study was made for one of these seven sites. An ecological (biological, sedimentological and geophysical) inventory was compiled together with evaluation of possible effects of the warm water outfall in the particular area. To facilitate a more accurate prediction model, and an eventual control of all ecological influences, a series of continuous and comprehensive survey programmes are needed over several years.
