Abstract | 1. The copper, zinc and iron content of blood and water soluble extracts from several organs of Sepia officinalis L. have been determined with atomic absorption spectrometry. 2. The relatively high concentration of copper and zinc in the branchial gland points to its probable role in trace element metabolism. 3. After gel filtration a low molecular weight copper and zinc containing fraction can be isolated from the gland. 4. A possible role of this fraction in hemocyanin biosynthesis is postulated. |
